畜牧业是国民经济的重要组成部分，中国畜牧业经过几十年的发展，已逐渐成为中国农业的支柱产业，其发展方式和发展水平直接决定着农业的现代化水平。目前，江苏省畜牧业正处于向现代畜牧业转型的关键时期，转变生产方式、提高畜牧业发展水平已成为当前要破解的重要课题之一。文章回顾了全球现代畜牧业的发展概况和发达国家现代畜牧业的发展经验，剖析了江苏畜牧业的现状及发展现代畜牧业面临的机遇和挑战，对加快江苏现代畜牧业建设提出了相关建议。

Animal husbandry is the important constituent of national economy, it has been the mainstay industry of agriculture in China after several decades’ development, and the pattern and level of animal industry determined the modernization of agriculture. Recently, Jiangsu’s animal husbandry locates in the essential stage towards modern animal husbandry, one of the important subjects is to transform the mode of production and enhance the industry level. In this paper, the recent developments of the world and the experience on modern animal husbandry in agricultural developed countries was reviewed, current situation of animal husbandry, the opportunities and challenge be faced in Jiangsu were analyzed, and preliminary suggestion on acceleration of Jiangsu modern animal husbandry industry was presented.
