“Hollow village” in Henan province widely distributs, enormously exists and covers big area . It is characterised by the shape of concentric circles, multi cores, fan, ribbons and so on. The causes of this phenomenon have many aspects, such as economy, system, concept and environment.The existence and spreading of this kind of statue quo, not only encroachs on a large number of farmlands, which will directly threaten the material foudation of agricultural development, but also induces many social contradictions, which will severely affect the coordinated development of rural economy and society. Therefore, the in-depth cause-analysis of this situation is essential for scientific plans in rural construction, economical and intensive utilization of land resources, improvement of the rural living environment, and sustainable development of agriculture and food security.
