Advances in Genetic Engineering for Disease Resistance in Watermelon

摘要: 西瓜是一种重要的世界性园艺作物,但生产中病害严重,抗病种质资源匮乏,遗传基础狭窄,常规抗病育种进展缓慢,利用基因工程改良其抗病性具有重大意义。笔者从西瓜离体培养、遗传转化系统、抗病基因工程中相关目的基因、常用转基因方法、导入目的基因的种类、转基因植株的表现和转基因产品的安全性等方面对西瓜抗病基因工程研究进展做一综述,并进一步提出和讨论了该领域尚待解决的问题,以期为通过基因工程手段改良西瓜抗病性提供帮助。

Abstract: Watermelon is an important horticultural crop worldwide, but there are many diseases in it’s production. For the narrow genetic base, watermelon conventional breeding for disease resistance has been slow. In this paper, watermelon resistance gene cloning, establishment and optimization of tissue culture and genetic transformation system, commonly used transgenic methods, types of target genes into transgenic plants' performance and the safety of genetically modified watermelon research progress were summarized. Some problems in this field, which would be investigated further, were also pointed out and discussed. These conclusions will contribute to genetic engineering application in improving watermelon disease resistance.
