Abstract:

The major research methods adopted in this paper are field survey and file analysis, and models of agricultural science and technology extension along with their strengths and weaknesses at home and abroad are taken as a reference, thus, this paper puts forward a new model to reconstruct agricultural science and technology extension in concept, method, content, subject and object. Taking three cases of Guangxi Yulin Agricultural Carnival, Hebei Nanhe Agricultural Carnival, Sichuan Meishan Agricultural Carnival as the research subjects, which represent the region and the industry, the findings suggest that the Agricultural Carnival not only proves to be a breakthrough of the extension in concept, methods, content and the subject, but also receives a good response in practice. At the same time, the Agricultural Carnival helps solve problems, to a certain extent, in traditional agricultural science and technology extension in China, such as high cost, low efficiency, decreased timeliness, narrow audience, and poor sustainability. The emergence of agricultural carnival provides new ideas and new methods for the development of agricultural extension in China.
