Abstract: In the late 1980s, male famers in rural areas began to choose to be migrant workers in cities to subsidize their families, lots of female farmers started to take the responsibility of agricultural production. This phenomenon is called agricultural feminization, which is a new one and occurs along with the development of agricultural production and the change of labor force composition in rural areas. The agriculture feminization is very important to China''s agricultural production, rural governance, labor force composition in the agricultural sector and the rural women''s welfare, for this reason, we must pay close attention to it. We aim to summarize the origin, development and influence of agricultural feminization by reviewing some domestic and foreign literatures on feminization of agriculture. Then we point out the problems in the feminization of agriculture, discuss the future research trends, and suggest that our government should pay close attention to gender equalization and female welfare.
