Abstract: To screen suitable coating materials and provide reference for field cultivation of Bupleurum chinense DC., we studied the effects of different coating treatments on seedling growth during seed germination period. In this experiment, Bupleurum chinense DC. seedling were used as materials, different coating treatments were conducted in seed germination period, which were mats coating, black film coating, white film coating, shading net, and no film was taken as CK; then the covers were removed after seed germination, and the physiological and biochemical indexes were determined after three months of seed germination; finally, the indexes were evaluated by membership function analysis. The results showed that: different treatments had different effects on different indicators, among them, the dry fresh weight ratio of the aboveground and underground and soluble sugar conten were the highest under mats coating treatment; the chlorophyll content and soluble protein content were the highest under black film coating; the free amino acid content was the highest under CK. The comprehensive evaluation showed that the effect of black film coating on the seedling growth of Bupleurum chinense DC. was most significant.
