Abstract: This paper discussed the role of vegetation restoration in prevention and control on sand hazard along with railway line by presenting the characteristic of sand hazard and application example of plant sand-control, and discussed the ecological function of canopy seed bank to vegetation restoration along with railway line. And it concluded that vegetation restoration was very important to the safety and the smooth operation of the railway line in sand dune areas, and the ecological function of canopy seed bank were playing an important role in vegetation restoration along with the railway line of sand dune areas. The paper suggested that the studies on the vegetation restoration along with the railway line of sand dune areas should be concerned on the investigation of seed dispersal dynamic of canopy seed bank, and the influences of canopy seed bank on seed bank pattern, germination and seedling emergence. The objective was to explore the ecological functions of canopy seed bank in vegetation restoration along with railway line, and to discuss the importance of the function to plant sand-control of railway construction in sand dune areas.
