Abstract: Summary: To make clear the best planting period of Fuyou chayote[1] and bring its production potential into full play[2], the study on its yield effect and benefit has been conducted by using 5 different planting periods in Youxi, the middle mountain area of Fujian province. The study result shows that its yield and planting benefit during the middle ten days of August, December, February is good enough but drops later. The yield differences are not remarkable. While the output in March and April is lower and the differences are marked. However, the chayote output planted in August is very low this autumn but quite high in the coming year. Compared with those planted in spring, it has taken half a year more to manage them and the cost has rosen obviously. So it is not worth spreading. Generally speaking, it is ideal to plant Fuyou chayote about in the middle ten days of December and February. This study result will provide the theoretical and technical support for the best planting period of Fuyou chayote in Fujian mountain area.
