Abstract: In order to increase the degree of city greening, taking herbaceous flowers in Hengshui City as test materials, the practical application of herbaceous flowers were studied by typical investigation method. The results showed that there were 39 families 73 species in Hengshui. And there were 54 species of flowering plants, 16 species of foliage plants and 3 species of ornamental fruit plants. More extensive application of plant belonged to Asteraceae, Lamiaceae, and Liliaceae, etc. According to the times of occurrences of herbaceous flower species, Salvia splendens, Petunia hybrid, Tagetes erecta L., Coleusblumei, Celosia cristat L., Iris tectorum, Viola tricolor, Tagetes patula L., Gerbera jamesoni were frequently used. The main application forms of herbaceous flowers were flower beds, flower border, color blocks and ribbon, sheet planting and vertical greening in Hengshui City. This thesis carried out a detailed analysis on problems and solutions, which aimed to provide the theoretical basis for the practical application of herbaceous flowers in Hengshui City.
