Abstract: Addition of carbon sources to farmland soil could affect nitrogen transformation, thus affect nitrogen use efficiency. Based on domestic and international researches, the authors summarized the effect of carbon addition on soil nitrogen forms and nitrogen transformation, revealed the mechanism of the loss and utilization of nitrogen fertilizer after addition of carbon sources, discussed the prospect of carbon addition in farmland, and provided the research foundation for reasonable fertilization and improvement of soil fertility. Finally, the authors pointed out that strengthening interdisciplinary, comprehensive and long-term orientation research was the key to promote the carbon-nitrogen research and field achievements transformation.
