Abstract: Different cowpea germplasms have various environment adaptabilities and storage resistance during seeds formation process. Understanding the cowpea varieties’ anti- deterioration ability has certain significance to guiding new variety breeding, seeds production and variety commercialization. Five cowpea germplasms’seeds were treated by methanol stress and incubating weathering method to identify seeds deterioration before and after harvest. The results indicated that‘Fengjiang Shihao’germplasm had poor adaptability. Its growth could be influenced by the climate, not suitable for large-scale commercialization. The comprehensive performance of two germplasms, ‘Darunfa’and‘Fengjiang Qingyou’, were the best, they had a wide range climatic adaptability and were suitable for large area planting.
