Abstract: In order to prove that using minimalist principle in planting design was necessary and has bright prospect,This article has summarized the concept, origin, development of minimalist planting, characteristics of plant forms, plant varieties, plant colors of minimalist planting was reviewed, finally pointed out minimalist planting has more advantages in landscape style, theme, ecological pattern, construction cost etc. So in China,landscape designer should try to bring more planting of minimalist garden into their design,in which way we can not only just make some different styles in China, but also improve the art value in it.
