Abstract: The paper aims to study the space mode of private gardens in Fuzhou. We took the west garden in the House of Huang Family, the Studyroom with Two Plum Blossoms, the Theater Stage Over Water, the Former Residence of Wang Qi and Lin Congyi in the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys for example, and analyzed the space mode of the five private gardens from material and spirit level, then divided the garden space into three modes: closed static space, closed dynamic space, open static space. Finally put forward three proposals to the construction of modern garden in Fuzhou, that were combining snow cave with rockery, combining humane landscape of “three religions in one” with natural landscape, breaking the limits of space by the connection between rockery and building.
