Control of Rice Bacterial Leaf Streak: Research Progress

Abstract

Abstract: The rice bacterial leaf streak (BLS) is one of the most important diseases in rice. It happens in most rice- planting areas in southern China, and seriously decreases rice yield. However, effective strategies to control the BLS are still absent so far. Here, we illuminate the genetic breeding control of BLS which contain the screening of resistant genes and rice varieties and the breeding of resistant rice varieties; and summarize the biological control of BLS including the discovery and utilizing of biocontrol microbes and the screening of antibacterial substances. In addition, the chemical control of BLS is also introduced in this paper. At last, integrated control strategies of BLS are reviewed in order to provide references for effectively control of this disease.
