Abstract: Aimed to explore the optimal conditions for twig cutting of cherry dwarf-rootstock ‘YT101’, and solve the problems in poor survival ratio after cutting, The effects of different cutting periods, cutting medium and the lignified degree on the rooting of twig cutting for cherry dwarf-rootstock ‘YT101’ were studied. The results showed that the twig cutting seedlings with the highest rooting percentage in early May grew the most and longest roots, while the twig cutting seedlings in early July grew the least, shortest and thickest roots, and the rooting percentage was also the lowest. When using the mixture of the coarse sand and fine sand in volume ratio 1:4 as cutting medium, the twig cutting seedlings had the most roots and the highest rooting percentage. Furthermore, the twig section of 20~30 cm counting from tip downward to cuttings had the best effects and can be selected as ideal cuttings for production.
