Response of Bio-available Phosphorus and Water-soluble Phosphorus to Phosphorus Accumulation in Soil

Abstract:

Taking cultivated land in four kinds of landforms in Zhejiang, including river valley plain, river network plain, coastal plain and hilly area, as the examples, the changing characteristics of bio-available phosphorus and water-soluble phosphorus with total phosphorus accumulation in soil were studied. The results showed that soil bio-available phosphorus and water-soluble phosphorus increased obviously with the increase of total phosphorus accumulation, there was a changing point in the increase. When soil total phosphorus reached 0.80-0.95 g/kg, the bio-available phosphorus increased significantly with the increase of soil total phosphorus accumulation. When the bio-available phosphorus was at 42-62 and 165-265 mg/kg, respectively, the soil water-soluble phosphorus level had two obvious increasing processes. Overall, the critical value of the accumulated total soil phosphorus was relatively low when soil bio-available and water-soluble phosphorus changed significantly in the valley plain. Since the proportion of readily available phosphorus in the total soil phosphorus increases with increasing phosphorus accumulation in soil, it is concluded that controlling the excessive accumulation of total phosphorus in soil could effectively reduce the loss of soil phosphorus.
