Influencing Factors of New Millet Varieties’Adoption Based on Dual Logistic Model: An Empirical Analysis

Abstract: As a traditional crop in China, millet has a long history in Northwest China. However, due to low yield and poor taste, its area gradually shrinks. Through the analysis of the influencing factors on the adoption of new varieties of millet, this paper obtains that the unit yield, unit benefit, whether to sell or not, and the information channel of new varieties of millet have significant positive effects on the adoption of new varieties; the risk of planting new varieties has significant negative effects on the adoption of new varieties; finally, from strengthening the investment in scientific research, cultivating new varieties suitable for farmers and market needs. The corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward in the aspects of new varieties, developing new products of millet processing, improving the marketization degree of millet, increasing the subsidies and support of millet.
