Traditional Rice Varieties in Yuanjiang County of Yunnan: Conservation and Sustainable Utilization

Abstract

Abstract: The paper aims to study the status of rice production in Yuanjiang county of Yunnan, analyze the problems and threats in the production of traditional rice varieties, to provide recommendations for the conservation and utilization of traditional rice varieties. On the basis of reviewing related research, through the strengthening the policy environment and the development and demonstration of long- term incentive mechanism, the mainstreaming of conservation and sustainable utilization of genetic diversity of traditional rice varieties in Yunnan could be realized. The results indicated the status of ancient rice varieties in Yuanjiang County of Yunnan, found out the problems and provided suggestions on the conservation and sustainable utilization of genetic resources of ancient rice varieties in Yunnan. The conservation and sustainable utilization methods of traditional rice varieties in Yunnan revealed by the results of this study has a great significance to promote the heritage value and conservation of cultural diversity of Yunnan Hani terraces.
