Abstract:

The paper aims to solve the problem that watermelons are vulnerable to waterlogging stress at the swelling stage in production. The watermelon cultivar planted in Yancheng was used as the material, 8 kinds of medicaments were spayed to alleviate the damage of watermelon under waterlogging stress, and their effects on the yield, quality and physiological indexes of watermelons were compared. The results showed that rapid growth had the best recovery effect in terms of single fruit weight and yield, with significant increase of 27.22% and 27.31%, respectively. To a certain extent, foliar-spayed medicaments such as gene activator, epiglottifolin and cytokinin could effectively alleviate the damage of waterlogging stress on watermelon, inhibit MDA production in leaves (the most significant reducing effect was achieved by epiglottifolin as 54.01%), enhance PAL activity (the best increasing effect was achieved by cytokinin as 72.22%) and root vitality (the best increasing effect was achieved by gene activator as 485.16%), and maintain the plant’s ability to absorb water and nutrients well.
