Abstract: Chinese agricultural school was formed in the warring states period. As an independent school ,Chinese agricultural school famed out after the warring states period. This paper studies the origin and development of Chinese agricultural school with the method of historiography. The academic thought of Chinese agricultural school originated from legend of monarch and agricultural official in ancient times. Chinese agricultural school can be divided into Houji sect and Shennong sect according to the origin and the academic thought. Chinese agricultural school developed as the forms of official expression of stressing agriculture thoughts, specialized the summarizing of agricultural experience and melted into other schools in the end of warring states period.
