Corn Kernel Dehydration Rate: Research Progress

Abstract: The kernel dehydration rate of maize is one of the main factors determining kernel moisture content at harvest time. Comprehensive, systematic and further research on this key trait could promote the breeding efficiency of maize with mechanical-reaped kernel, and accelerate the whole-process mechanization of China’s maize production. Therefore, the study, in terms of kernel dehydration rate measurement methods, the relationship of kernel dehydration rate with other agronomic traits, the genetic improvement and the genetic mechanism, etc. discussed the research progress of maize kernel dehydration rate at home and abroad in recent years. Meanwhile, some problems in the research were analyzed, and the countermeasure for each problem was also provided. The study will provide information for further researches on the kernel dehydration rate in maize.
