Approach and practice of Climate-smart agriculture

Abstract: [Objective] “Climate-smart agriculture”(CSA) is agriculture that sustainably increases productivity, resilience (adaptation), reduces greenhouse gases (mitigation), and enhances achievement of national food security and adaptability of climate change.[Method]The review introduced the background, definition and approach of CSA, and presented the practice pattern and successful cases in the world. [Result] CSA is a kind of new agricultural development option. For this, necessary transformation should be made in current agricultural system through integrated soil, water, genetic resources and food value chain management. [Conclusion]China needs to promote the development of CSA on the basis of global experiences and its national conditions.
