The Development of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Wood-pressed Brown Sugar Under the Background of “Internet +” in Lameng Town, Longling County, Yunnan Province

Abstract:

This paper explores the intangible cultural heritage represented by the wood-pressed brown sugar known as Xiaomuzha brown sugar. From the perspective of its development and inheritance, this paper discusses the historical route, manufacturing process, characteristics and medicinal- economic value of the wood-pressed brown sugar of Lameng Town by carrying out literature review and field research, and identifies the constraining factors and associated issues. The results show that the local government and social groups can take initiatives to revitalize the wood-pressed brown sugar industry by establishing intangible cultural heritage promotion institutions, introducing and cultivating production entities, promoting traditional manufacturing craft innovation, breeding distinctive product trademarks, enhancing employee training and building a sound logistics network, which could promote the high-quality development and inheritance of the wood-pressed brown sugar under the context of Internet+, and increase the income of local farmers, and revitalize the rural economy.
