Abstract:

To objectively and accurately evaluate the utilization value of introduced cotton germplasm resources and provide excellent parents for new cotton varieties breeding, a total of 80 cotton germplasm resources were used in this study. Principal component analysis (PCA) and systematic cluster analysis were carried out based on 10 representative traits relating with yield, fiber quality and disease resistance. The results show that the values of the first four principal component features are all greater than 1, and the cumulative contribution rate reaches 76.893%. The first principal component is corresponding with fiber quality, the second principal component is corresponding with cotton yield, the third principal component is corresponding with disease resistance, and the fourth principal component is corresponding with fiber elongation. The 80 germplasm resources are divided into 6 major groups at the chi-square distance D = 2.15. The comprehensive characters of group I and group II are excellent, which are the same as those of group I in PCA scatter diagram, and they belong to high yield and good quality groups. Finally, 25 high-yield and high-quality resource materials are obtained by aggregating the same results of systematic cluster analysis group I, group II and PCA scatter diagram group I, which can expand breeding resources of the Institute of Cotton of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences.
