Abstract:

Amaranthus hypochondriacus is a kind of hyperaccumulator with fast growth, large biomass, high adaptability and high nutrient content, which is easy to be cultivated. It has good potential for remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil. This paper briefly described the characteristics, cultivation management, and the application value of A. hypochondriacus, summarized recent research progress of A. hypochondriacus on soil heavy metal accumulating cadmium, caesium, thallium, and combined remediation technology (additives, microorganisms, earthworms, agronomy measures). The existing problems of A. hypochondriacus in remediation of heavy metal pollution in soil and the methods for improving the remediation efficiency of A. hypochondriacus were also discussed, to provide theoretical reference for the application of A. hypochondriacus in remediation of heavy metal pollution in soil.
