Problems and Countermeasures of Farmer’s Microfinance of China Postal Savings Bank: A Case Study of Qihe Branch

Abstract:

Postal savings bank (POSB) is different from the commercial banks in general sense. Its market localization is retail financial services oriented to individuals. With the original relative superiority, farmer’s microfinance will become the strategic business and symbolic products of POSB. But there were also some problems during the process of microfinance development. In order to facilitate the healthy development of microfinance in post saving bank, choose Qihe branch as a case study, a detailed survey on farmer’s microfinance was made. It was found that the main problems of farmer’s microfinance were weak loan administration, inadaptation between loans limit, repayment means and customer demands, the unreasonable credit evaluation way, as well as information asymmetry. Based on the main problems, the author put forward several advices, which included enhancing farmer’s microfinance management power for the client, formulating rational loan limit and repayment schedule, strengthening credit environment construction, and also expanding channels of communication.
