Abstract: Cattle service to farmland is the symbol of traditional agriculture and also a typical behavior of crop farming activities in China. Cattle were meritorious in ancient agriculture as the main productive force. In history, the relationship between cattle and agriculture was very close. The author described the development history of cattle service in ancient agriculture in China, summarized the types of cattle service including plowing land, and pulling carts, kollergang and stone rollers, pointed out the important position of cattle service in ancient agriculture. The study provided reference for improving agroecological environment and enhancing affinity to the nature.
