Abstract:

To study the color difference of main flue-cured tobacco varieties in Hubei Province and their color changes during short-term storage for 150 days, the color values of ‘Yunyan 87’, ‘K326’ and ‘Jinshennong No.1’ were measured, including brightness L*, redness a*, yellowness b*, and saturation C*. The results showed that the color difference of the three varieties’ leaves reached a very significant level, among which, ‘Yunyan 87’ had high color brightness, yellowness and saturation, ‘Jinshennong No.1’ had relatively high color redness, yellowness and saturation, ‘K326’ had middle color brightness and redness, and relatively low yellowness and saturation. The color uniformity of ‘Yunyan 87’, ‘K326’ and ‘Jinshennong No.1’ decreased in turn. During the short-term storage of 150 days, the color brightness, yellowness and saturation of the three varieties increased gradually, but the redness gradually decreased. With the extension of the storage time, the color difference of the three varieties increased gradually compared with the early stage after curing. The biggest color difference was found in ‘Jinshennong No.1’, followed by that of ‘Yunyan 87’, and then ‘K326’. Therefore, ‘K326’ is the most stable color variety in short-term storage, followed by ‘Yunyan 87’, and ‘Jinshennong No.1’ is most likely to change color with the storage time.
