摘要： 叙述了湖南棉花生产发展简史，着重回顾了新中国成立后湖南棉花生产历程，从湖南皮棉总产、种植面积、皮棉单产等方面按年代进行了比较分析，总结出了各年代湖南棉花生产特点与波动规律，认为原棉市场需求、植棉经济效益、植棉经济政策、自然灾害等因素对全省棉花总产、植棉面积较大，棉花品种改良与更换、棉花科技创新与应用能力提高是湖南棉花单产水平提高的关键因素。同时根据湖南棉花生产的新形势对湖南未来棉花生产进行了展望，指出全程机械化是湖南棉花生产今后的重要发展方向。

Abstract: Abstrct: In this paper, we have described the development history of cotton production in Hunan province,And mainly reviewed the process of Hunan cotton production since founding. We summarized the characteristics of cotton production and fluctuation pattern in our province through comparative analysis data of total lint yield, planting area and lint yield in decades. We found that some factors including raw cotton demands, economic benefits and cultured areas, cotton variety improvement, science and technology innovation and application were the key factor of unit yield increasing. At the same time, we also prospected on production in future on the basis of new situation of cotton and pointed out that entire mechanization is the main development direction in Hunan.
