Virus-free Potato Varieties in Aeroponics: Comparative Analysis

Abstract:

To select the potato varieties suitable for the aeroponics production of pre-basic seeds in southern Sichuan, the agronomic traits and yield of seven virus-free plantlets of potato varieties were compared with the control ‘Favorita’ in aeroponics. The results showed that the tuber number per plant of ‘Zao dabai’ and ‘Zhongshu 19’ was 10.4 and 10.1, respectively, increased by 33.3% and 29.5% compared with that of the control. Evaluating comprehensively, ‘Zaodabai’ and ‘Zhongshu 19’ show better agronomic traits and higher yield among the tested varieties, which are suitable for pre-basic seeds production in aeroponics.
