Screening of Cucumis metuliferus Germplasm Materials with Resistance to Watermelon Mosaic Virus

Abstract:

The paper aims to determine the resistance of Cucumis metuliferus to watermelon mosaic virus (WMV). WMV was inoculated to 20 C. metuliferus germplasm materials for identification by mechanical rubbing at seedling stage in greenhouse. The results showed that C. metuliferus was the specific host of WMV and had abundant resistant germplasms, among the materials, PI292190 showed immunity, and PI202681, Hm4-1-1, Hm1-4-1 showed high resistance. This study could provide abundant resistant materials for the study of resistance mechanism and the transformation of antiviral genes in C. metuliferus.
