  The Evolution of Cotton Seed Reproduction Techniques in China 2013, 3 (4):  1-5.  Abstract + ( 1291 )   PDF ( 1097KB )   ( 1577 ) In order to study scientific method of cotton seed reproduction acting on international convention,this paper compared and analyzed development of techniques in cotton seed production from seed import, field lump selection and piece selection based on population mixed selection, Three-Nursery in Three Years as well as its related techniques based on single plant selection, and Fore-Grade Seed Reproduction (FGSR) System technique based on replication selection theory. The three development stages of cotton seed production in scale in China are summarized in this study. The synthesized benefit of different seed production systems are also stated from manpower input, capital input and industrialization scale. FGSR system technique is more scientific seed production techniques suitable for China situation. The challenge and development prospect in seed production in China is also discussed.

  Physiological Effects of Chrysanthemum Varieties ‘Huang zhong Huang’ on Waterlogging Stress 2013, 3 (4):  6-8.  Abstract + ( 1292 )   PDF ( 1162KB )   ( 1266 ) In order to solve the problem of weak growth or death caused by flooding and heavy rainfall on cut chrysanthemum. By the soil culture simulate waterlogging stress, the electric conductivity, chlorophyll, MDA, and root vigor was determined on chrysanthemum varieties ‘Huangzhonghuang’. The results showed that: electric conductivity raised continuously, α-naphthylamine started to decline. Chlorophyll content first appeared to decline, and raised slightly, then continued to decline. The content of MDA with the beginning of the stress that appear to rise sharply, a slight decline in 3 d was equivalent to 700% of the contrast,9 d compared to 1730%. Waterlogging stress accelerated the cut chrysanthemum ‘Huangzhonghuang’ aging.

  Research on Epidemic Trajectory and Control Efficacy of Liberobacter asiaticum in Different Management Approaches 2013, 3 (4):  9-12.  Abstract + ( 1380 )   PDF ( 1203KB )   ( 1383 ) Abstract: In order to reveal the epidemic trajectory of liberobacter asiaticum in different management style, we established epidemic diffusion model of liberobacter asiaticum by the dynamic inspection of onset and dispersion in Huangyan District from 2002 to 2012, with the help of the diseased plants incidence data which processed by Excel 2003 and SPSS software. The results show that, The epidemic diffusion model of natural conditions without artificial control: y1=12.24x-1.3828(n=9,r=0.98**) , General Prevention and control: y 2= 5.4498x – 1.6035（n=11,r2=0.9505**）, The integrated control diffusion model: y3=0.379x-0.373(n=11,r2=0.982**). In natural conditions without artificial control, the annual average diseased-plant rate is11.11% and it takes 9 years from the onset to complete destruction . Under the conditions of general prevention and control methods, it needs 18 years, and the annual average diseased - plant rate of 4.69%, compared to the epidemic prevention and control of natural diffusion effect is good 57.79% .Basis of the integrated control diffusion model ,if the cumulative infection rate up to 10%,it at least go through 27 years, and the annual average diseased - plant rate of 0.31%, compared to the epidemic prevention and control of natural diffusion effect is good 97.21%.Whereby,do a good job of comprehensive prevention and control, the liberobacter asiaticum can prevention and control and the citrus industry will not disappear because of liberobacter asiaticum,so that all levels of government and the majority of growers have confidence in about the epidemic prevention and control.

  Impact of Different Tillage Methods on Soil Physical Properties and Sugar Beet Growth 2013, 3 (4):  13-18.  Abstract + ( 1271 )   PDF ( 1494KB )   ( 1208 ) In order to establish a supply system for energy resource coupled to the environment, the production technology of sugar beet was explored as a biological energy source. The low-humic andosolsas as the experimental soil, the panting method was direct planting, cultivation techniques was minimum tillage direct planting method. The control were conventional tillage transplant and no tillage direct planting, this study on the impact of different tillage methods on soil physical properties and sugar beet growth. The results demonstrated that, the soil structure of no tillage direct planting was easy to be closely, and the sugar beet more branching root compared with minimum tillage direct planting. But there were not significant differences on the emergence, growth stage and yield of sugar beet. The yield reduction of root of sugar beet was by 2.5%-9.2%. There was high yield, which involves a combination of no tillage and direct planting, in low-humic andosols with good soil crushing.

  Study on Cultivated Land Suitability Evaluation for Rice and Index Determination 2013, 3 (4):  19-24.  Abstract + ( 1467 )   PDF ( 1345KB )   ( 1426 ) Cultivated land is more important resources for all crops. In order to draw the planting plan and utilize cultivated land properly, a case was determined to Yizheng City in Jiangsu Province. Considering climate, soils, landform, environment of Yizheng City, 13 indexes were sieved and determined for rice suitability evaluation for cultivated land of Yizheng City, and hierarchical analysis model and membership function model were built based on Yizheng Cultivated Land Resources Management Information System. The results indicated that, according as accumulative curve and clustering analytical method, these cultivated land areas were plotted out 4 zone, including the best suitable zone, suitable zone, little suitable zone and not suitable zone. Cultivated land areas in the best suitable zone counted 10.20% for the whole areas. Cultivated land areas in the suitable zone and little suitable zone counted 56.08%, 25.50% for the whole areas, respectively. Cultivated land areas in the not suitable zone counted 8.22% for the whole areas. To validate the veracity for rice suitability evaluation, the actual yield of rice were investigated in the Yizheng City, and the rice yield of 319 croplands was recorded. There was a positive relationship between actual rice yield form investigation and suitability index obtained in the evaluation (R2=0.1964, 319 samples). The trend of results between actual yield of rice and rice suitability evaluation were consilient, and the suitability index could reflect rice yield of cultivated land.

  Study on the Evaluation of Land Intensive Utilization Based on GIS——A Case of Hainan International Science and Industry Park 2013, 3 (4):  25-29.  Abstract + ( 1271 )   PDF ( 1148KB )   ( 1566 ) In order to implement the “State Council on the Promotion of Economical and Intensive Land Notification”, further to strengthen the management of land in development zones and promoting the economical and intensive using of land so as to provide scientific advices for the expanding and upgrading of development zone. The paper, applying model analysis methods through elaborate survey, by taking Hainan International Science and Industry Park as the research object and ultimately building up the index system of development zone land intensive utilization which contain 3 main categories: (1) status of land use; (2) effectiveness of land use; (3) management performance of land use. The results indicated that, the total level of intensive utilization in Hainan International Science and Industry Park was very high, the status of land use was fine and the management performance of land use was predominant while the effectiveness of land use was common on the contrary. To actualize the economic and intensive using of land in Hainan International Science and Industry Park, along with the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island, administrative system should be upgraded as well as creating the project access system and exit mechanisms, making further efforts to improve the investment environment, and vigorously promote the construction of ecologically development zone.

  New Research Progress of Substrate Cultivation for Vegetables in China 2013, 3 (4):  30-34.  Abstract + ( 1787 )   PDF ( 1041KB )   ( 1824 ) Solid matrix fixed vegetable roots, and absorbed nutrient solution and oxygen through the substrates. This is soilless substrate cultivation for vegetables. This article summarized the main types of substrate cultivation for vegetables. This have Trough culture, Bag culture and Three-dimensional vertical culture first. Then it suggested that the development of substrate cultivation technology was better than by the soil culture; described the new progress of matrix formula, nutrient solution formula and water management technology of substrate cultivation for vegetables; pointed out the problems existing at present and developed the optimal advice in the future in substrate cultivation for vegetables in our country; at last, discussed the future development and research direction of substrate cultivation for vegetables.

  Study on the Lagerstroemia indica Cultivars in Shaoyang CityⅡ 2013, 3 (4):  35-41.  Abstract + ( 1246 )   PDF ( 5108KB )   ( 978 ) The Lagerstroemia indica is the important ornamental flower in summer. There are more than fifty varieties of Lagerstroemia indica in China at present. The Lagerstroemia indica varieties were investigated in Shaoyang City. 100 L. indica varieties were found that belong to L. indica Amabilis Group, L. indica Rubra Group, L. indica Alba Group and L. indica Bicolor Group. The information of 69 L. indica varieties was collected in details which are newly found. Because of the limited length of a paper, the details were reported in three papers. 20 new varieties of L. indica Rubra Group are reported in the paper.

  Correlation and Path Analysis of Quantitative Characters Among F3 Generation ofSea Urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius 2013, 3 (4):  42-47.  Abstract + ( 1388 )   PDF ( 1156KB )   ( 1380 ) To analyze the quality of growth and gonad among F3 generation of sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius comprehensively, 82 sea urchins Strongylocentrotus intermedius were randomly chosen from 12 families, the body traits and the main nutrients of gonad were measured and then analyzed. The body traits include test traits (test height, test diameter, test wet weight, test dry weight), Aristotle’s lantern traits (Aristotle’s lantern height, Aristotle’s lantern diameter, Aristotle’s lantern weight), body weight and gonad wet weight. The nutrition traits include total protein content, total fatty content and four kinds of high polyunsaturated fatty acid (C20:4, C20:5, C22:5, C22:6) composition of the gonad. The mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation of body traits and nutrition traits between different genders were calculated among F3 generation of sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius, and the correlation of quantitative characters was analyzed. The results showed that, among F3 generation of sea urchin Strongylocentrotus intermedius, the female group’s traits were a little better than the male’s, but not significant (P>0.05). The body traits were highly significantly correlated (P<0.01). The correlation between test diameter and weight was the most significant, and between Aristotle’s lantern and weight was less significant. About the nutrient composition, the correlation between C20:4 (AA) and C20:5 (EPA) was highly significant (P<0.01); and between C22:5 and C22:6 (DHA) was significant (P<0.05). It might show that the content of high polyunsaturated fatty acid would correlate significantly when having the same number of carbon atom. Among the nutrient composition, test height, test diameter and weight, there was no significant correlation (P>0.05). And most of the correlation was negtive. So it should be considered seperately when carrying out the selective breeding. The results provided a basis for evaluating the breeding potential and further selection of sea urchin; they also provided a method and theory reference for the quality breeding of sea urchin, the were a temporary summary of sea urchin breeding results.

  Heredity of Recessive Gene in Pea and Its Breeding Applications 2013, 3 (4):  48-54.  Abstract + ( 1286 )   PDF ( 1238KB )   ( 1414 ) Because of the qualities which pea have such as easy to homozygous of recessive genes and stabilize genetic substance, easy to observe phenotypes and select traits, we conducted the study of researching pea’s genetics of recessive genes. And the goals of our study are breeding of high-quality and high-yielding pea varieties and improving the breeding efficiency. The materials that used in this study were two pea varieties. One is dwarf semi-leafless white round pea with white flower and hard pod. The other is high stalk normal lobule brown coved pea with purple flower and edible pod. Through hybridization, the study aimed to breed new pea variety with high quality, high yield and lodging resistance. And the results were: seeds in F1 were white and round, and the plants showed the characters of high stalk, normal lobule, purple flower and hard pod. The seed color and plant apparent characters of F2 accorded with dominant-recessive separation ratio as 3:1 by the chi-square test. The observations of the traits leaf axillary cyanine in spots and purple flower showed the same numbers and it fitted the effect of complete-linkage; ‘Suwan4’ had been breed that showed all the above recessive genotypes such as dwarf, semi-leafless, white flower and high yield. The successful breeding of ‘Suwan4’ provided many breeding materials with recessive genes for pea breeding. Utilization of apparent selective of recessive genes could confirm the selection target for breeding earlier, select the characters in the aspects of high yield and resistance, which for the purpose of accelerating the breeding process, especially has very important effect in the selecting of characters controlled by one pair or two pairs of dominant-recessive genes.

  Investigation for the College Students' Recognition to Genetically Modified Food——A Case Study of North College Town of Zhengzhou 2013, 3 (4):  55-58.  Abstract + ( 1433 )   PDF ( 1084KB )   ( 1817 ) In order to investigate the degree of awareness and acceptance to GM food and the attitude to marking systems and governmental supervision about GM food. Through the questionnaire survey, 150 university students’ recognition of GM food (genetically modified food) was investigated in north college town of Zhengzhou. The results showed that the students had somewhat known about GM food; electronic media had already been become a very valuable source of information of GM food; For safety, most students were cautious about GM food, and paid more attention to label food in order to confirm whether the food contains genetically modified ingredients; it was universally acknowledged that governmental supervision about GM food should be strengthened, the stringent management for marking systems about GM food should be worked out, the right to know, and the right to choose of consumer should be protected.

In order to offer reference for sustainable development of academic journal of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.

  Current situation, Demands and Development strategy of Meteorological Service for Chinese Countryside 2013, 3 (4):  62-67.  Abstract + ( 1160 )   PDF ( 1387KB )   ( 1411 ) Meteorological conditions are the main environmental factors to affect agricultural harvest in China. The frequent meteorological disasters cause huge losses to Chinese agriculture and severely affect the sustainable development of Chinese countryside every year. Through targeted agricultural meteorological services, enhance agricultural and rural disaster prevention and mitigation capabilities and the best way to reduce the risk of agro-meteorological disasters. This paper studied the current situation and demands of meteorological service for Chinese countryside. The result showed: (1)Farmers hoped to get weather forecast promptly and hoped the forecast accuracy to be further improved. (2)Farmers hoped to get more targeted and meticulous agricultural weather information. (3)Farmers hoped the weather information to be transmitted quickly and with more methods. (4)Farmers hoped to get the knowledge about meteorology and disaster prevention & mitigation. This paper also studied the development strategy of meteorological service for Chinese countryside. The paper management mechanism to improve meteorological services in rural areas, strengthen disaster prevention and mitigation system, construction of rural meteorological disaster prevention systems engineering, enhance the technical level of meteorological services in rural areas, and expand rural development strategy of the user base.

  Study on Protection of Geographical Indications in EU-South Africa Wine and Spirits Trade Agreements 2013, 3 (4):  68-70.  Abstract + ( 1280 )   PDF ( 1019KB )   ( 1321 ) The negotiations on an China-EU bilateral agreement on geographical indications (GIs) have been six rounds and enter a critical period. EU has rich experience in bilateral negotiations on GIs, but China relatively less on this issue. Therefore, it is crucial to study on the texts of agreements signed between EU and other countries or regions in order to provide some references for China. As a case study, this paper will look into GIs protection in EU-South Africa wine and spirits trade agreements.
